I was incredibly fortunate to find my way into the plastering trade—it came to me entirely by chance. After completing my Sculpture degree in London, I stumbled across an advertisement posted by the NHTG for an apprenticeship at Keith Langton’s workshop in Wakefield. It was a big move for me, relocating from Somerset with no prior background in construction, but without a doubt, it turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

Instead, he gained hands-on experience by working in the plastering trade for several years, learning valuable skills along the way.

My inspiration to pursue a career in plastering came from my passion for creativity and the satisfaction of seeing a project come together. The ability to transform a space and witness the final outcome was incredibly appealing. Additionally, I was motivated by the fact that plastering was a predominantly male industry at the time, and I wanted to challenge the norm and establish myself in the field.
