Commercial plaster support manager at Saint-Gobain Interior Solutions , Master Plasterer of the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers and proud holder of the Freedom of the City of London
My journey
This year will be my 40th year as a plasterer,
At the age of fourteen I started working weekends with a local plasterer to earn extra pocket money, most teenagers of that age would have either a milk or paper round.
After leaving school I got an apprenticeship working for Altone Plasterers
Throughout my working life my work was mainly on commercial buildings working along with some great teams, we went onto win 4 fis gold awards for the projects, which were awarded by the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers
My life journey then took me into site management with my team this involved further study and qualification which had to be achieved
I am now an A3 assessor, I have gained many other NVQ’s ( National Vocational Qualifications) throughout my career, including gaining my teaching qualifications, with my knowledge and qualification I was asked to sit on the board of fts skills
I worked for 17 years with Taylor hart ltd before joining British gypsum which is a company I have always wanted to work for nearly 9 years now.
I am the commercial plaster support manager and trainee on-site technical consultant, my role is to help on the large commercial sites which Is something I really enjoy, also with British Gypsum it gives me the ability as a stem ambassador to go to schools and talk to the next generation, and there are many kids wanting to join this historic vocation, and this we never had when I was at school , British gypsum is also committed to sustainability in the construction industry which is a priority .
In 2020 I was awarded with the Prestigious Master Plasterer status one of the proudest part of my career, it was a huge honour to receive the award and join the other members .
I then received the freedom of the city of London which again was incredible and a huge honour
