Dolcie’s journey in plasterwork began at the age of 15 when she became an apprentice under Master Plasterer Kevin Holbrook. During her apprenticeship, she trained extensively in plain and decorative plasterwork, scagliola, and gilding. In the years that followed, she honed her craft while working with Living with the Past, applying her skills to a diverse range of heritage and contemporary buildings across Ireland and Europe.

In recent years, Dolcie has specialized in decorative plasterwork and the art of stucco duro. For six years, she has been deeply involved in the restoration of Castle Freke in County Cork—an ambitious project that included the creation of intricate freehand and figurative ceilings. Her recent work also includes projects at Castle Howard in the UK and St. Finbarre’s Cathedral in Cork, alongside artistic studies in freehand plaster from her home studio.

In 2025, Dolcie made history as the first woman to be certified as a Master Plasterer by the Worshipful Company of Plaisterers. Looking ahead, she is passionate about preserving the art of plasterwork, restoring heritage buildings, and inspiring homeowners to embrace bold decorative choices.

She is particularly dedicated to mentoring young craftspeople in traditional techniques, supporting women in the trade, and ensuring that decorative plasterwork continues to thrive for future generations. She firmly believes that the possibilities within this timeless craft are endless.
